Ex-Disney Workers Sue Company Because of Layoff

Attorney Sara Blackwell of the Blackwell Firm in Sarasota, Florida, representing two ex-Walt Disney World workers, filed suit in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida on January 25, 2016. The docket of this court proceeding states that the nature of the suit is "Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations."

The two separate lawsuits allege that Disney and two outsourcing consulting companies colluded to replace them with cheaper immigrant labor. Specifically, the suit maintains that Disney colluded with these companies to abuse visas meant to fill specialty occupations and replace American workers with immigrants. The two consulting companies are HCL Inc. and Cognizant.

Attorney Blackwell contends that her clients, Leo Perrero and Dena Moore, were only two of 250 technology workers who were laid off by Disney in 2015.

Disney made a statement and maintains that the lawsuits are based on an unsustainable legal theory and is a misrepresentation of fact.

One of the consulting companies, Cognizant, also stated that it complies with all U.S. regulations regarding the visas.

The Docket Information for these suits are as follows:

Perrero v. HCL Inc., et al., Docket No. 6:16-cv-00112

Moore v. Cognizant Technology Solutions, et al., Docket No. 6:16-cv-00113
